Narellan Rural Fire Brigade was called yesterday (13/02/08) to respond to reports of a Coal Loader on fire within the TRN Coal Mines on Glenlee Rd, Spring Farm.

Narellan 1 responded at around 16:30 with a crew of 5 and on arrival we found NSWFB Pumper 248 working to mop up a large machinery fire. Because 248 was running low on water and the incident was within our brigades area of responsibility our Captain made the decision to release 248 back to their station.

Narellan 1 remained, and while the fire itself was extinguished there was still significant heat in the remains of the machinery. Our crew continued to direct water onto the coal loader until it was deemed non threatening.

Narellan 1 returned to our station at 17:30.
